A man known only as Gilmar, approximately 35 years old, was brutally murdered by stoning in the early hours of Friday April 12, 2013. The crime happened in front of a house known as Big Brother on Rua Inácio de Melo in the Oitizeiro area of João Pessoa, the capital of Paraíba, Brazil. Gilmar had his skull cracked and face disfigured by the blows with the stone that was larger than his head. A rosary he wore around his neck did not save him from sheer rage he was subjected to.

Authorities don’t know the motive nor who could have killed the man in such a brutal manner. Heck, they don’t even know his full identity – other than his nickname. I don’t think anyone can go wrong guessing Da Silva as his last name…

It looks like in Brazil, some random Da Silva gets stoned to death at least once every few days.

The attack happened in the early hours of Sunday April 21, 2013 at around 3am in Lagoa dos Gatos, a city in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil. 32 year old Reginaldo Heleno da Silva nicknamed Nego Regis was returning from a party and as he walked down Rua Cícero Laurentino at the entrance to Vila Cipó, he was attacked with a cobblestone.

Several blows to the head left him unconscious but seemingly still alive. Medics were called for and arrived quickly, bandaged his head and took him to a hospital in Cupira, however during the transport the patient succumbed to his injuries and died.

At the crime scene there was blood, a shoe of the victim and the stone used in the commission of crime. Nego Regis lived on Rua Manoel Genoino Monteiro, Bairro da Compesa, and was known to be a troublemaker. He reportedly like to get drunk and when drunk, liked to get in people’s faces and stir shit. Looks like he finally pissed a wrong guy.

The following day a person found a purse with a notepad with telephone numbers. He called the family and told them where he had found the bag. The family alerted authorities who located the girl in the brush half naked, raped and murdered by having had her head smashed with a stone.

49 year old Antonio Severino da Silva was shot in the head with a heavy gauge revolver while hanging out in a bar in Sítio Cacheira do Arroz, in the town of Taquaritinga do Norte, about 30 miles north of Caruaru, Pernambuco, Brazil. Workers from a landfill in Iguatu, state of Ceará, Brazil noticed that a lot of scavengers started to gather around one spot of the dump, went to see what was attracting their attention and found a dead body of a teenage girl with feet bound together and upper body stuffed inside a bag. Girl’s head was completely smashed and body was in an advanced state of putrefaction.

Medical examiner determined that the girl has not been subjected to sexual abuse anytime immediately before or after her death. Police investigators found they had the girl on file reported missing since April 26, 2013. On that day, 17 year old Keila Cibely Queiroz left her home with unidentified male on a motorcycle and has not been heard from since.

Further investigation lead to the arrest of the girl’s ex boyfriend – 20 year old Yaslan Moreira da Silva, a refrigerator technician who initially denied having had anything to do with her death but eventually confessed and provided details of murder.

The police learned that Yaslan Moreira da Silva got into an argument with Keila Cibely Queiroz and pushed her. The girl fell to the ground and became unresponsive. He got nervous, went to the backyard, grabbed a hammer and struck her in the head “I think twice, I’m not sure”, as he put it.

On August 30, 2010 Slovak Republic experience its first ever shooting spree killing. 48 year old Ľubomír Harman, armed with a Vz. 58 assault rifle, a CZ 85 combat pistol, and a CZ 52 pistol busted into an apartment in a densely inhabited residential area in Devínska Nová Ves and killed all 5 members of the family who were inside, then killed another member of the family who was outside and one additional person before killing himself.

Long story short – Ľubomír Harman and other families were terrorized by their neighbours for several years – they pooped in front of his door, then smeared it on the door and doorknob, uttered death threats etc, no one helped them. He was a good calm person with good nature, but couldn’t take it anymore. He went mental and just shot them and then went outside to continue.

Funny as he was randomly shooting at people, some of whom just did not realize what was going on as they see this kind of thing just in American movies. A woman casually came outside to take out the trash, then casually walked inside. One man approached the shooter and asked him what was he shooting at – thought we was shooting birds. Other people thought the same as it was the most reasonable explanation at the time.

People not so far away were going about their business. No matter what police say he didn’t want to kill all the people. He told some of those that were close to go away or run. He would also shot a few rounds above their heads to show that the rifle was real but intentionally did not shoot at them. He became a local hero for many people, although one of his victims was an innocent person.

The graphic pictures are quite hard to get, if not impossible. By the way, very nice background on the Hungarian-Slovak relationship, very true. There used to be a Hungarian border just outside our village once, ugh.

Although it’s been more than a decade ago, I did spend a significant amount of time in Central Europe and am well familiar with the Magyar and Gypsy problems.

While I in no way condone the killings, this shooting spree has got to be the first that makes perfect sense. I’ve always wondered why shooters with a death wish targeted random, innocent civilians when there is so much scum out there. If you’re gonna go out with a bag and kill a whole bunch of people before killing yourself, why not make it a whole bunch of scumbags?

In the case of the Devinska Nova Ves killings, there was one family that was making cohabitation for the entire neighborhood hell. Ľubomír Harman literally sacrificed himself for the neighborhood by wiping the thorn in everyone’s side out. It cost him his life, but the troublemakers are gone and the neighborhood can live in undisturbed peace again, something that seemed unachievable whilst the family was around. Honestly, if you’re intending to go on a shooting spree, why not make gangsters, drug dealers, crooked politicians or other scum your target? Why target innocent people who are victims of the evil doers themselves?

Driver of a BMW 318 overshoot a curve and crashed. Young girl on the passenger seat was not wearing a seatbelt and put her head through the windshield. The impact killed her on the spot. It happened in Phetchaburi, Thailand on April 22, 2013.

I don’t think the impact could have thrown the dead girl into the passenger seat so neatly so I don’t think she was the driver. There has been no indication as to who else was in the vehicle in the issued report by the Thais. Judging by the rather expensive car, my guess is it was a kid of some high ranking police officer, which could explain why his/her identity is withheld. It would also explain why the kid was speeding way beyond allowed speed limits. Corruption is the name of the game in Thailand.

The victim was 26 year old.

I posted a video of this incident earlier. The crash happened on April 26, 2013 in the city of Belem, state of Para, Brazil. A single engine Cessna model 210L that left the city of Chaves, on the island of Marajó, piloted by Vicente de Paulo Guimarães Cancela crashed while approaching the Brigadeiro Protasio airport runway. At the time it was reported that the pilot survived, however despite efforts of the surgeons to save his life, he succumbed to injuries. Seeing how his face was literally destroyed, it’s not all that surprising.

The pilot died on May 3, 2013 in Metropolitan Hospital in Ananindeua, metropolitan region of Belém as a result of multiple injuries sustained in the accident. Since his admission, pilot was in an emergency care unit and underwent several surgeries, including facial reconstruction which lasted for hours, but it was not meant for him to survive.

His name is Mohammed Eid, he’s 4 years old from Syria and apparently suffered a facial burn during a bombing. He needs a surgery to restore his eyelids. The cameraman asked him to look at the camera, and close his eyes. At the 0:06 minute mark he tried, but the best he could do was roll his eyes backwards to hide the iris from the light.

It was not specified what kind of bombing lead to his injury. Terrorists are highly active with car bombings, there was also that recent chemical attack by the FSA but I think that one was more of an attempt to kill people, rather than burn them. Brutal either way to end up disfigure like that at such an early age. Looks like Harlequin ichthyosis.

A man sustained serious facial injuries when he crashed his motorcycle on the Malecón in Samaná, Dominican Republic. 47 year old Genry Miguel Malloon Jimenez of Calle Hernández in Municipio de Sánchez was taken to the emergency unit at Hospital Leopoldo Pou in Samaná but due to seriousness of his injuries, had to be promptly transferred to the better equipped Hospital Docente Universitario Dr. Dario Contreras in the country’s capital city of Santo Domingo.

The victim has top half of his head held together with bandages, but I can imagine there’s some severed trauma under them. Bottom half itself shows serious cracks the seriousness of which is only amplified by the victim occasionally spurting blood.

I’ve posted many gruesome accidents over the years on Best Gore, but because they happened in places I’ve never been to, they never felt too personal. But during my two trips to the Dominican Republic, I spent most of my time in Samana or the areas nearby so this one strikes close to home, knowing I was exactly where it happened. I like the night stands along the Malecon in Samana selling food and beer you can drink as you listen to the ocean’s waves beating against the concrete wall.

There is a nice beach north of Samana in Las Galeras up one of the shittiest roads you’ve ever seen in your entire life, or an even better beach called Playa Rincon, which also has a mountain river flowing into it so you can be in fresh and salt water all at the same time, but to get to that one you’d have to feel exceptionally adventurous due to uber shitty terrain that leads to it. The road is undriveable unless you have a powerful 4×4 with very high ground clearance. Or if you have lots of money, you can pay a boatman to take you to the beach by sea. Turns out, if you ever go there, watch out for an occasional motorcyclist about to split his face in half.

A man named Eric developed Squamous Cell Carcinoma inside his nose. Squamous Cell Carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that arises in the epidermis – upper layers of the skin. Because his tumor developed inside his nose where it wasn’t easily spottable, by the time he was diagnosed, the tumor has already grown so much, a radical surgery that demanded the removal of much of large part of his face was necessary to save his life.

Eric’s left cheek bone, surrounding facial tissue and his left eye had to be removed, leaving him with huge hole in the face through which you could see inside his sinuses. Because of his age and because there was little bone structure to build on, facial reconstruction surgeries did not bring him anywhere near to having his face restored.

The video below shows a surgeon trying to take a new approach and help restore the patient’s missing face with prosthetics. His female partner sounds rather pretentious making herself look oh so loving and not caring about Eric’s face because she was on camera, realizing that it’s a smart thing to say if millions of people are gonna see it, but other than that, it’s a pretty frightening look at the realities of the cancer ridden world we live in. An estimated 700,000 cases of squamous cell carcinoma are diagnosed in the US each year and result in approximately 2,500 deaths.

Corpse of a man was found near the El Aguaje colony on the road between Tlapa and Metlatonoc in Guerrero, Mexico. 41 year old Silvaneide Maria de Souza Aquino was asleep in her residence with her husband when the murderer – her own brother arrived, trying to break the door with an iron bar. His sister died in front of him on the spot.

Barbaric murder in these photos happened in the town of Baraúna, state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. 61 year old João Ezequiel da Silva murdered his wife, 48 year old Maria da Conceição Mendes da Silva by beating her in the head with a garden hoe. Brazilians are so practical – anything that can be found around the house can be used in the commission of murder.

The killing took place at 4am but despite it being deep night, neighbors went to see what was going on after overhearing the screams of distress. Husband tried to escape on a motorcycle but forgot the keys inside the house and had to return. While doing that, he unlocked the front door and entered leaving the key in the lock. Neighbor who came to see what the screams were all about noticed the corpse in a pool of blood in the middle of the kitchen and used the key in the lock to lock the killer up. Police just had to collect him from his own home prison.

Husband alleged that he had killed his wife because she threatened to sell the house that belonged to her and leave him. The man said he even tried to kill himself by holding onto a power cable without isolation but failed. He also wrote a suicide note in which he stated the reasons for the murder.

I’m puzzled by the fact that an aged man who seems to be in a grave with one foot would commit suicide. What would drive an old man who put so many years in to such an act?

There are hand tools around the corpse, including a hacksaw but I don’t think he used it to saw off the barrel cause these are only suitable for wood cutting. The blast caused mad damage to his face.
